electric wheel chair access?

Postby Newwestminster » Thu May 28, 2009 6:25 pm

Hi,
Just trying to find out if my friend who is in an electric wheel chair (he stays in the chair ie doesn't get out to have it transported separately) would be able to take the SK30 White Pass and Yukon train excursion, the one that goes up by motor coach and comes back via train and lasts 8 hours with some stops on the way up via bus? It looks like a great tour. Any info you could provide would be gratefully appreciated.
Thanks

Hello, New Westminster. Our Fraser train, which connects with motor coach tours, has a lift car for wheelchairs. We'll be happy to assist your friend onboard our lift car for his trip back down the White Pass. Hope you both enjoy a great trip.

Thanks John, for responding. I have a slight addition to this, however. We contacted the motorcoach company about this inquiry and they cautioned us that while than can accommodate this, they wanted to stress that it is an 8 hour tour & no wheelchair accessible restroom on the motorcoach. If the passenger is able to get out of the wheelchair for these purposes there should be no problem whatsoever. If you feel this won't work for you we do have our 3 hour Summit Excursion trains, which are fully wheelchair accessible. I hope this information has been helpful. We look forward to seeing you in Skagway.

Kind regards,
