A Wedding (Two Ceremonies!) Aboard
the WP&YR at
the White Pass Summit
Carl Mulvihill of Skagway Alaska is a long-time friend of
the White Pass & Yukon
Route and unofficial company historian. He is currently employed as a U.S.
Customs Officer and was engaged to Canadian Customs Officer Renate DesRoches.
Carl's wish was to have a "marital coupling" at the
U.S./Canadian border at the White Pass Summit! Company President
Gary C. Danielson gifted Carl & Renate
a special charter to celebrate their wedding day with family and friends. White
Pass crew gladly donated their time and delivered this charter with their usual
style and class.
The Wedding Train departed promptly at
1:00 pm and featured coach #207, the Lake Morrow, as the "Chapel Car" immediately
behind two GE diesels. The Wedding Party was in coach#278,
the Lake Fairweather. An additional 5 coaches made up the consist
carrying a total of 112 guests.
Renate traveled on a one-way ticket to the Summit as "Renate DesRoches".
Her return ticket read "Mrs. Mulvihill". Following the ceremonies at
the White Pass Summit, the "wedding train" became the "honeymoon
train" and the happy couple shared a champagne toast with guests in each
of the coaches. |
